Alex Morono earns notable victory against Donald Cerrone at UFC on ESPN 24

Alex Morono earned a memorable victory as he beat Donald Cerrone in the UFC on ESPN 24’s main event.

Initially Cerrone was supposed to fight Diego Sanchez. However, Sanchez was unceremoniously released from UFC. This was following the dispute between UFC and Sanchez over his medical reports.

UFC termed Sanchez medically unfit to fight and released him from UFC. Following this, Alex Morono replaced Sanchez to battle it out against Cerrone.

Both fighters started scoring pretty early into the fight, but it was Morono who was landing the harder blows. Cerrone did display some commendable head movement along the way but made a mistake during an exchange in the centre of the Octagon.

In the meantime, Morono ducked an attack and landed a right hand. It stunned Cerrone and Morono rushed in for heavy combinations along the cage and the eventual finish.

Morono scored a first-round TKO win over “Cowboy” in the welterweight co-headliner, which took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

This is perhaps the biggest win of Morono’s career. Donald Cerrone has a pretty big name in the sport and defeating him surely was a highlight in Morono’s MMA career.

Alex currently has eight wins in the UFC’s welterweight division.
