Kimi Raikkonen is currently in his 21st season with Formula 1. But his performance has been deteriorating with every passing race.
Fans are under the impression that the current season might just be his last. But these are just speculations at the moment.
Alfa Romeo team boss, Fred Vasseur, has stated that he will not be making any decisions regarding the drivers before the summer break.
What did Vasseur say?
In a recent interview, Frederic Vasseur revealed that the team has taken a step forward as compared to the same last year.
The team boss also mentioned that he is happy with the performance of his two drivers at the moment.
“Kimi has huge experience and he’s doing a fantastic job in the race to manage the situation. He’s always able to do the perfect job in the management,” he said.
“I want to keep the team under pressure, I don’t want to take any decision. We will have time to talk about this in the last part of the season,” he said on Kimi’s future.
Antonio Giovinazzi’s pace is on the rise
Vasseur also talked about Kimi’s teammate Antonio Giovinazzi.
While Kimi has a lot more experience and drives exceptionally well during races, Antonio has been showing better results during the qualifying sessions.
“He’s improving, the pace is going up, but we always want to get more and I’m always pushing them,” said Vasseur.
“It’s my job. I think one of the issues of Antonio so far was he was far too much into the comparisons with Kimi. Now he’s able to take the lead on some of the decisions and say, ‘okay, I want to do this’. And for him, it was a step,” he concluded.
We can only wait till the summer break to see if Kimi will be seen at the next season in the Alfa Romeo overalls.
