Netflix was back with a bang with the season 3 of the F1 docuseries Drive to Survive. With cameras unhinged, the crew followed around the drivers and their teams diligently, giving us insights into what it takes to be the fastest driver on the planet.
This season is filled with high-voltage entertainment as we witness shocking exits, terrifying car crashes and bone-tickling funny moments.
After binge-watching the show, we bring you five of the best moments of Netflix’s Drive to Survive Season 3.
5) Stroll’s Pink Mercedes:
The third season started with the showcasing of pre-season testing. All jaws dropped when Racing Point revealed its car, the RP20. It wasn’t very evident in the beginning, but when the car was taken for testing in Barcelona, the rivals couldn’t help but notice a resemblance to the Mercedes in 2019.
Thus, they dubbed it as the ‘Pink Mercedes’.
We see the team’s new owner Lawrence Stroll, doing his bit to run the outfit. He clearly seemed determined to take his team to the top when he said “I’ve always won in the business I run, and I will win here.”
4) Victory at Monza:
Pierre Gasly’s renewed confidence after his epic win at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza is undoubtedly one of the biggest highlights of the season. In season 2 he was demoted from Redbull by Christian Horner and Dr Helmut Arko.
There’s a scene where he is in his car on his way to the circuit reading the news on his phone. He reads the headline ‘No 2020 Red Bull return for Gasly’ and responds ‘I have my target, the fight is on. Now we’re going to score some ***** points.’
Gasly’s epic win, paired with Albon’s constant struggles to keep up the pace with him, was a sure-shot recipe for entertainment.
3) We see all of Bottas:
We literally saw a lot more of the Mercedes star Valtteri Bottas than our eyes were ready for.
During a particular scene, he is filmed nude in a sauna where we get a very clear vision of his rear end. This scene took place when Bottas was in Finland last year with his agent and mentor Ville Ahtiainen.
Daniel Riccardio sure did not shy away from having a laugh at the Mercedes star. In this season, the viewers also got a close look into the rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Bottas.
Imagine I’m not the first to comment on it ? but still not sure how I feel about seeing ALL of Bottas in DTS ?

I guess it’s the birth of Bottass. Dammit we’re immature ? All I’d recommend is a tan. Was sunglasses sorta stuff. Otherwise, fair play lad.

2) A maiden win:
After Racing Point signed Sebastian Vettel for the 2021 season, Sergio Perez was mentally prepared that his Formula One career was coming to an end.
After his rocky start at the Sakhir Grand Prix where he was pushed off the track during the initial laps, there was little hope for him.
But after that, what the world witnessed was a sheer display of talent and perfection as he skillfully overtook every car to lead the race.
His first ever Grand Prix win was an absolute treat for the eyes of the viewers.
1) The Bahrain Miracle:
This list will be incomplete without mentioning Romain Grosjean’s terrifying fireball car crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix. After losing control of his car, he rammed it into the fence splitting the car into two.
Soon the vehicle catches fire while Grosjean is still stuck inside. The air is filled with dread and fear of the inevitable.
After several excruciating minutes, Grosjean miraculously emerges out of the car with second degree burns on his hands. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief.
