Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have enjoyed some friendly banter with each other on Instagram.
When we think of bromances on the F1 grid, the Sainz-Norris friendship is the first one that comes to mind. So when the Spaniard left McLaren to join Ferrari, it was the end of a bro era. However, Sainz has shown that he is a great friend to have, and has established a good bond with teammate Leclerc.
When Sainz joined Ferrari, many thought the relationship would be strictly professional. However, it has been that and much more. They enjoy being teammates and friends, and have recently bantered each other on Instagram.
Leclerc posted a picture of himself and his girlfriend with the caption “some time off”. The couple are on vacation in Mykonos, as it is the F1 summer break at the time of writing.
Sainz saw this picture, and the eagle-eyed driver was quick to note Leclerc’s red lips. He decided to troll his teammate, and commented a tomato emoji under his post. His comment sent fans into bursts of laughter, and they praised Sainz’s observation skills.
Leclerc, not to be left behind, sent a funny reply to his teammate. Under Sainz’s comment, Leclerc wrote, “Juts trying to match the colour of the car mate.”
Fans enjoyed this amusing exchange between the two teammates, and then Sainz wished them a happy holiday. “Keep up the good work. Enjoy the holidays couple,” Sainz replied.
Just what the doctor ordered
The two drivers are hilarious, and fans love them. This is especially true for Ferrari fans, who have not had such a fun pairing in years. The last time they did was when veterans Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen were teammates at the Italian constructor. The best part is that they are not just fun, but also great on track.
Among themselves, Leclerc and Sainz have brought him 163 points for Ferrari. This includes two pole positions and three podiums. Not bad at all for a team written off at the start of the season.
Two drivers like Leclerc and Sainz are just what Ferrari need. If they can manage to show some form and consistency starting from Belgium, they may just pip McLaren to the third place finish in the Constructor’s Championship.
