There was an unusual rumor around the paddock ahead of the British Grand Prix related to Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc.

According to the rumors, the Monegasque will be joining the Red Bull garage starting from 2022.

This proved to be an opportunity for fans to begin their speculation games surrounding the young driver and the Milton Keynes outfit.

However, the rumors were slashed down by Leclerc himself during a press conference.

What did Leclerc say?

The 2-time Grand Prix winner, during a press conference ahead of the British Grand Prix, clarified that this was a baseless rumor.

He also revealed that he will be entering 2022 with his much-loved racing team, Scuderia Ferrari.

“The rumours that I’m going to Red Bull are literally rumours. Probably someone got bored and decided to do something,” Leclerc said.

“I believe in the people I work with, in Ferrari, in our project. I will enter the new era with Ferrari,” he explained.

Leclerc is still under a five-year contract with Ferrari that was signed back in 2019. As a result, we can expect Leclerc to hang around until the end of 2024.

He has even expressed the desire to extend his contract beyond 2024.

Ferrari for 2022 title?

Since the start of 202, Ferrari has been going through a rough patch. However, they have been able to make significant progress in the development sector.

This includes building a new simulator.

As a result, we can expect the Reds to bring out their best game in the upcoming season.

Considering Leclerc’s and Carlos Sainz‘s partnership, the outfit does seem to be in line for the title next season.
