Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has been showing some extraordinary driving this season finishing in the top 10 consistently.

The Prancing Horse struggled to find their pace on a few occasions this season. However, the sprint qualifying in Silverstone proved to be a boon for Leclerc.

The 23-year-old finished the race at P4 and even claimed to be surprised by the unanticipated pace of his Ferrari.

Leclerc confused

While the Monegasque has faced several difficult situations during the qualifyings this season, he managed to finish P4 in the Silverstone sprint.

During the duration of the 17-lap race, Leclerc maintained his position from the start to the end.

Additionally, he finished a mere four seconds behind the third-placed Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas.

More luck for Lercerc?

After a difficult 2020 season, fans expected more troubles for Ferrari in 2021.

However, the Italian outfit are in direct competition with McLaren for third place in the constructors’ championship.

While Leclerc is yet to claim a podium, it seems to be only a matter of time before the stats change.

The driver from Monte Carlo did admit that while nothing much happened for him during the race, there was a positive outcome.

“No, nothing! But it was still positive, we had the same pace as Valtteri who was in front of me. We were not expecting that to be honest, so that’s very positive,” he said.

Leclerc for podium?

Even though Leclerc finished behind Bottas by four seconds, he maintained the gap while he was driving on medium tyres for the entire race.

This could act as a major motivation for the Ferrari driver for the race on Sunday.

He also can draw inspiration from Max Verstappen‘s launch from the line to steal P1 from Lewis Hamilton.

If he were to claim a podium on Sunday, Ferrari will be able to put more pressure on McLaren for their place in the constructors.
