When India’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer suffered a shoulder injury earlier this year, it was one of the most challenging times of his life.
However, in a recent turn of events, he is all set and ready to go after joining his Delhi Capitals franchise in the United Arab Emirates. The second leg of the IPL 2021 will begin on September 19, and Delhi is currently in first place in the points standings.
After suffering a shoulder injury in one of the series’ matches, Iyer was ruled out of India’s home series against England. He was later ruled out of IPL after suffering a shoulder injury. He then underwent extensive rehabilitation and is now scheduled to play in the IPL’s second leg in the UAE.
It should be remembered that when Iyer was unable to play the opening session of the IPL, Rishabh Pant was selected as DC’s captain.
However, after Iyer returns, it is unclear who would be in command of Delhi. While watching his teammates compete, Iyer made it a point to explain that the emotion was exceedingly difficult for him.
Shreyas Iyer is on top of the world
“I am feeling on top of the world, to be honest. This was the thing I was eagerly waiting for. It’s never a bad feeling to be among the team. I came six days prior to the start of the practice sessions for the team, and I had two good games against the UAE team, so I just want to continue with the same momentum,” said Iyer, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
He added, “The feeling was very difficult to sit out and see my teammates play. I was sitting in front of the TV, watching each and every game and feeling as if I am on the ground and trying to replicate the scenario at my place. But, it’s in the past now, I have to forget about it and continue with the same flow, the team has maintained throughout.”
