Till, born in Liverpool, began his career as a Muay Thai fighter at the age of 12. He soon shifted to mixed martial arts and turned a professional in just three years.
Once at a party, Till was stabbed twice in the back which changed his life forever. He moved to Brazil to stay out of trouble and found success in MMA as an amateur. By 2013, he earned eight wins.
Darren Till was contacted by the UFC back in 2015 and he entered the organization with a perfect 12-0 record.
His first fight was against Wendell de Oliveira, which he won via a brutal TKO in the second round. However, his next fight ended in a draw.
Till gathered a record of 17-0 when he challenged former welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley. But Till lost the match after a huge right hand from Woodley and a submission via D’arce choke.
‘The Gorilla’ has a 6-4 UFC record.
Salary and net worth
According to The Sports Daily, Till has managed to earn around $913,000 so far. But this is no inclusive of undisclosed bonuses and other income sources.
His fight against Kelvin Gastelum (which was his middleweight debut) earned him his biggest paycheck.
Till earned a whopping $245,000 through that fight at UFC 244.
Back in 2017, ‘The Gorilla’ was declared the Breakthrough Fighter of the Year by Pundit Arena.
