Angela Cullen turns attention skywards in daredevil mission to herald ‘new chapter’ following one-sided split with Lewis Hamilton

Angela Cullen is a well-known name in the F1 circuits, having served as seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton’s performance coach for seven years.

However, while it was earlier believed that the duo had settled on an amicable split, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff confessed that it was Hamilton’s call to end the association.

This might usually mean a glum phase for Cullen, who we had all gotten so used to seeing cheer Lewis on in every race.

Unlike what one might have imagined, she was in a very upbeat mood following the split, a fact that was apparent from her recent Instagram post.

On his own part, Hamilton explained what the duo’s relationship is like following the split.

Hamilton swiftly put a stop to that rumour gaining any more momentum.

“Me and Ange are good,” Hamilton said.

“She’s moving on to a different phase in her life. We’re still super-close and we have been texting every day.

“She’s massively supportive and I’m massively supportive of her.

“I’m so grateful to have had her with me on this journey. She’s one of my closest friends and she continues to be.”

Cullen herself seemed to be absolutely ecstatic with the direction she has taken her life in, claiming to have started a “new chapter” in her life.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to fly. When I was young I wanted to be a fighter pilot, in fact, I still want to fly an F16,” she wrote on Instagram.

“But today I went solo with my paraglider (maybe not the F16 ), but it was an amazing experience, so peaceful – chasing dreams!”

Cullen may not be physically standing in the paddock anymore, but there is little doubt that she will ‘forever’ be a fan of Lewis.

When we look back at her statement following the split, it seems apparent that even if Lewis was forced into the tough decision of calling it quits, they both still enjoy tremendous chemistry and respect for each other.

“Exactly seven years ago on this day I was standing in the F1 paddock for the first time at the Australian GP,” she had written on Instagram.

“Today I’m excited to share I’m off on my next adventure. I am so grateful and blessed to have had this incredible journey in F1 and I know my story will continue.

“Thanks to the MB team, who have been my family for the past 7 years. And Lewis Hamilton you GOAT!! It’s been such an honour and pleasure to stand along side you I’m so proud of you and everything you have achieved.

“Thank you for supporting me, believing in me and showing me the limitless potential we all have within us. I am so excited to watch the next chapter for you. There’s nothing you can’t do. Don’t stop believing…

“Life’s journey is one big wave, keep riding, Dream big as dreams do come true.

“Forever by your side, STILL WE RISE.”
