Aston Martin become first team to confirm 2022 car’s launch date

F1 Constructor Aston Martin has become the first team to confirm their 2022 car’s launch date.

The 2022 season will begin in earnest in March with the Bahrain GP. With new regulations being part of the sport, every team’s development has been going on in full capacity.

However, in a bid to keep their progress secret, no team has revealed anything regarding their cars. The team from Silverstone shunned that, with them announcing a day for the purpose.

Aston Martin became the first team to confirm their 2022 car’s launch date, revealing a date in February as D-Day.

“Our all-new challenger, the AMR22, launches on Thursday 10th February, live from Aston Martin Lagonda headquarters in Gaydon, UK,” the team said in a short message on Friday, as quoted by Racingnews365.com.

New dawn

Aston Martin, along with the rest of the F1 field, will sport radically different cars in 2022. This is down to the aforementioned new regulations that will be introduced into the sport starting from the upcoming season.

The regs will focus on aerodynamics. This means that the way the cars generate downforce will be different to their 2021 predecessors. As a result at least on paper, wheel-to-wheel racing and overtaking will be made much easier.

Aston Martin are the first team to announce the reveal of their car. Whether that will benefit their rivals in any way remains to be seen, but it is a great gesture from the team to give fans a glimpse into what they can expect when the new season rolls around.

Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll will pilot their new cars in 2022, meaning the team have the same lineup as they did in 2021.
