Bottas sets his sights on fifth Constructors’ title – “Would be something really special”

Valtteri Bottas has set his sights on a fifth consecutive Constructors’ title, saying he will work towards it until he leaves.

Bottas will depart Mercedes after a successful five-year association with the Silver Arrows. He leaves having helped the team win everything there was to win in the time he was part of them.

The Finn has never won a Drivers’ title, but has been one of the best signings Mercedes have made. The ultimate team player, the 10-time race winner can look back on his time with pride.

However, Bottas set his sights on a fifth Constructors’ title, and expressed his desire to win it before he bids farewell to Mercedes.

“It is important for me,” he said, as quoted by crash.net.

“Even though I’m leaving, I’m not giving up on any goals that we have for this year. So, a fifth title together in a row would be something really special to be part of, would be better than four.

“So that’s definitely a goal and it’s also a motivation for me to keep pushing.”

The sands call

Bottas also spoke about the upcoming Saudi GP, and said that the team’s notes from Qatar boded well for racing in Jeddah.

“It was a bit surprising, actually, how good it (racing in Qatar) was, but now it seems like tracks with a high-speed content are pretty good for us and high-speed corners are also not too bad,” he continued.

“That gives us a bit of hope for Saudi. I think we’re in a good form at the moment, we’re having a good run, with good performance, so we need to try and keep up the good moment and the good work.

“We’ve learned a lot with the setup, we’re setting up the car a bit differently, nowadays, compared to the beginning of the year, so we live and learn,” he concluded.
