Former Renault boss Cyril Abiteboul has finally delivered on his infamous tattoo promise to Daniel Ricciardo, as reported by DMARGE.

Ricciardo’s time at Renault was not the best, but there was one hilarious episode that had fans keep a close eye on proceedings. It was a bet between the Australian and his boss Abiteboul, and it was quite the hilarious wager.

Abiteboul said that if the Honey Badger managed a podium finish in the Renault, he would get a tattoo of his choosing. He delivered in double time, bagging two podium finishes at the 2020 Eifel GP and the 2020 Emilia Romagna GP.

Even though the two no longer work in the same team, a bet is a bet. After these many years, the former Renault boss has finally delivered on his promise to Ricciardo, and has gotten inked.

Ricciardo uploaded a picture of himself and Abiteboul at a tattoo parlour on Instagram. The picture shows Ricciardo watching as the artist is working on Abiteboul’s tattoo.

What the tattoo looks like is still a mystery. However, knowing the McLaren driver, he will reveal it pretty soon, and do it in trolling fashion.

Ink fest

It sseems tattoos are all the rage in the F1 paddock. There was another incident involving a little bit of ink quite recently, and that involved Ricciardo as well.

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff McLaren boss Zak Brown to get a tattoo as part of a charity initiative. He promised to do so if McLaren won a race, and they did it at the 2021 Italian GP.

Brown obliged promptly after the result, getting a tattoo that honoured the historic win. He will be hoping for more results like those in the future, but tattoos will be an area of debate.
