Pierre Gasly angry with Red Bull for signing Sergio Perez again

Pierre Gasly is angry with Red Bull for signing Sergio Perez again.

Gasly’s story with Red Bull is one of twists and turns. The Frenchman was embarrassingly dropped from the main team before the season even concluded. His demotion saw him land in Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri, where he has gone from strength to strength. He has even won a race with the team, taking a stunning victory at last season’s Italian GP.

Gasly was asked about the Red Bull seat he had been linked to for the past few months. He expressed his disappointment with the team, and said he was angry at Red Bull for signing Perez again instead of promoting him.

“Yes, for sure,” Gasly said, as reported by ESPN F1.

“To sign again and to be out of Q1, to finish one lap behind his teammate, and to be elected best driver of the (Dutch) GP, yes, there is frustration. Especially when I finish fourth with a much inferior car to his.”

Gasly feels Red Bull made the wrong choice

Gasly’s stellar performances for the past two seasons in the mid-table AlphaTauri have not gone unnoticed by the fans, and of course Red Bull. He was monitored and was even considered for the second seat to partner Max Verstappen. However, the Milton-Keynes outfit signed Perez again, leaving Gasly a bit frustrated.

The Red Bull seat is something Gasly wants, and his pent-up frustration was let loose after his crash during the Italian GP sprint. He had an excellent start, but touched another car and crashed. However, the Frenchman insisted he will not give up.

“We know that anything is possible though, and we’ll try our best to come back tomorrow,” Gasly said. He will know a thing or two about the impossible, having pulled off a near-impossible win last year on the same track.
