AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly sent a message to NFL legend Tom Brady after his retirement announcement, hailing his legacy and career.
Brady’s future was up in the air after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round. The loss ended his hopes of making the Super Bowl again, and it took no time for the retirement rumours to crop up.
While his father and agent denied them, he himself affirmed that he was hanging up his boots. After playing 22 seasons and winning a record seven Super Bowls, he felt the time was right to step away. Tributes poured in from all over the world, including one from the Frenchman.
Gasly sent a message to Brady after his retirement, saying he was an absolute legend in every sense of the word.
“What a career Tom Brady,” he wrote,
He further suggested that Brady was the “greatest of all time”.
Brady penned an emotional farewell message to his fans and teammates, saying it was the right time for him to leave the sport.
“This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore,” he said.
“I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.
“I’ve done a lot of reflecting the past week and have asked myself difficult questions. And I am so proud of what we have achieved. My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans deserve 100% of me, but right now, it’s best I leave the field of play to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes.”
