Christian Horner compared the 2021 season to a Hollywood film, saying that everything that happened was straight out of the big screens.
The 2021 season was the wildest one fans have witnessed in years. A crazy midfield, huge upsets and controversies and a title battle that was the pinnacle of driving and talent.
The latter went down to the last lap of the last race, having had tons of controversial moments and blame games. It was the first time since 1974 that a title battle like this one had been seen.
The final moments of the race saw Max Verstappen pass Lewis Hamilton on the last lap to win his first world championship and send Red Bull into celebrations. Horner compared the 2021 season to a Hollywood film, and said that no one could have made up what happened.
As reported by Autosport, the Red Bull team principal said, “I think it was 47 years ago that this championship last went to a race where drivers were tied on points.
“I don’t think even a Hollywood scriptwriter could have come up with the ins and outs of this year.”
Never better
Horner also commented on the popularity of the sport skyrocketing this season, and expressed his happiness at having man more pairs of eyeballs on the big league of motor racing.
“And Formula 1’s popularity, as we’ve seen, has gone through the roof,” he continued.
“He’s (F1 CEO Stefano Domencali) probably got the biggest sporting event in the world this year as the finale. And the amount of new fans that we’ve welcomed into the sport has been astounding, phenomenal.”
The 2022 season will look to build on its predecessor with the new regulations.
