Charles Leclerc has requested the Tifosi to generate a Dutch GP-like atmosphere at Monza for the upcoming Italian GP.
Leclerc’s history with the Monza circuit is well-documented. He won the 2019 edition of it in dramatic fashion, fending off Mercedes and winning Ferrari’s home race. He wants to gatecrash Mercedes and Red Bull’s charge to the title for one week, and has taken to asking the race faithful to put on a show at the Temple of Speed.
Leclerc gave his thoughts on the Italian GP, and requested the Tifosi to generate a Dutch GP-like atmosphere at Monza.
“Monza is always special for the drivers and the team,” Leclerc said, as reported by France 24.
“It is our home and we can feel the support. I will remember 2019 for the rest of my life. It will feel good to feel the support. And I hope we can see the same kind of craziness that we saw for Max, but this time for us!”

Monza will welcome fans back after the closed-doors race held last season. There, Pierre Gasly won in emotional and dramatic fashion, securing the first victory of his career. Fans have predicted another excitement fest in Italy this weekend, and any driver could end up dropping a masterclass.
One such driver is Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. Currently sitting on 99 wins, he will look to hit the century in Italy. Winning the Italian GP will also see him set the record of most wins at Monza, ahead of Michael Schumacher’s five.
“We are trying as hard as we can,” Hamilton said.
“We had a couple of races where we seemed to be on a par with them, or slightly ahead, but I think they took a big leap. We just have to keep our heads down, keep working, keep pushing.”
The race will see the second ‘Saturday Sprint’ format take place after the British GP. Friday will see qualification, and Sunday will be race day.
