Former world champion Michael Schumacher’s manager explains the reason for maintaining secrecy about his health.
Schumacher was involved in a skiing accident, and suffered a brain injury. He is still recovering from the incident. The Schumacher family has been very quiet about his condition, and little has been revealed to the anxious fans of the German legend.
Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm explained the reason for maintaining secrecy about his health.
“In general the media have never reported on Michael and Corinna’s private life,” Kehm said, as reported by the Mirror.
“When he was in Switzerland, for example, it was clear he was a private individual. Once in a long discussion, Michael said to me, ‘you don’t need to call me for the next year, I’m disappearing.’
“I think it was his secret dream to be able to do that someday. That’s why now I still want to protect his wishes in that I don’t let anything get out,” she concluded.
Life of a legend
Schumacher is unanimously considered to be one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever seen. Netflix announced that they would be making a documentary on his personal and professional life.
Titled ‘Schumacher’, it promises some exclusive information and insight into the Schumacher family and their way of life. More importantly, it will depict the life and recovery of Schumacher himself.
The documentary will feature Schumacher’s wife Corinna, brother Ralf Schumacher and drivers like Sebastian Vettel, Bernie Ecclestone and David Coulthard. In the recently released trailer, his wife of 26 years can be seen talking about her husband.
“I just felt that he is somebody special,” Corrina said.
“I think that he is simply very strong mentally. Extremely strong. He still shows me how strong he is every day.”
Kehm also described the Netflix documentary as “the family’s gift to their beloved husband and father.”
