Mick Schumacher penned an emotional message to his father Michael Schumacher on his 53rd birthday.
Michael turned 53 on 3 January. He is one of the greatest drivers to have ever raced in a Formula 1 car. The German is a seven-time world champion, which is a record number of titles won in the sport’s history.
It has been only a few days since the eighth anniversary of the horrific skiing accident he suffered. It left him with serious head injuries and in a less-than-ideal situation. His current health status is not fully known, but it is clear that he is recovering from the accident at home with his family.
On his 53rd birthday, son Mick Schumacher penned an emotional message to his father and poured his heart out to his champion and hero.
The Haas driver made his debut in 2021, 30 years after his illustrious father made his. He took to Instagram and shared a picture of young him in Michael’s arms.
Tributes
“Happy Birthday, Dad,” he wrote.
“Days like these were important to my growing passion for motorsport, and still affects it to this day.
“I am grateful for all the experiences you have given me and I’m excited to be making new ones in the future.”
The tribute poured in from all over the F1 community. Ferrari, the team the driver is most remembered for racing with, took to their social media to share various pictures of their legend in red.
“We’re all with you, Michael. Today and all days,” the Prancing Horse wished.
Mercedes, the team Michael raced with from 2010 to 2012 also posted images of him. “Happy birthday to an F1 icon. Keep fighting Michael,” they wrote.
