Perez reveals Red Bull is Horner’s “life”

Sergio Perez revealed that Red Bull was Christian Horner’s “life”, and that the team principal was wholly invested into it.

Horner was at the helm and oversaw Red Bull’s first title in eight years. Under his leadership, the team won the Drivers’ Championship through Max Verstappen, beating Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton in the process.

The Red Bull team principal oversaw massive drama, ugly blame games and a political feud that went on for the whole season. Each race weekend was high octane, and it was the major story of 2021.

Perez revealed that Red Bull was Horner’s “life”, and that he puts everything he has into the team.

As quoted by GP Fans, the Mexican, who joined Red Bull in 2021 said, “Well, I think it’s a lot the situation we (were) in.

“They are our main competitors. I don’t know for Toto (Wolff), I don’t know how he’s at work and so on.

“But just speaking for Christian, Red Bull Racing, it’s his life. It’s everything. He gives everything for it. He gets very passionate and I think it’s great to see.

“The sport is great to see drivers with character. It’s great to see team bosses with character. It’s part of the sport at the end of the day,” he concluded.

Perezing matters

Perez had a good debut season at Red Bull, taking multiple podiums and a staggering win at the Azerbaijan GP. With Max Verstappen taken out of the race, Checo stepped up for his team to keep them alive in the Constructors’ Championship and take the second win of his career.

Red Bull won the Drivers’ Championship, but lost the Constructors’ Championship to Mercedes on the last day of the season. Nevertheless, Perez played an important role in getting his team to the final day very much in the hunt.
