Red Bull insider makes baffling admission after failing FIA’s frontal impact crash test – “If we passed, it would be a problem”

Red Bull technical advisor Helmut Marko has spoken about the reaction within their camp following reports that his team had failed FIA’s first crash test ahead of the upcoming season.

The team reportedly failed FIA’s frontal impact test as it prepares to ensure continued dominance in 2024 after a record-breaking season last year.

The Front Impact Structure Dynamic Test is one of many tests that cars need to pass in order to be approved to race in F1 and although this was met with some concern from F1 fans, Marko reiterated that the team was actually happy they failed the test.

In conversation with F1 Insider, Marko was speaking after confirming that he had signed a three-year contract extension at the reigning champions.

“If we had passed the first crash test, that would be precisely the problem,” he said.

“Then we wouldn’t have done well!”

This goes to show the mentality at Red Bull which is to push the limits as far as possible.

Their strive for excellence, backed with the expert guidance of F1 design guru Adrian Newey, means that it is unlikely the team will lose its tag of favourites heading into the upcoming season.

With Red Bull winning all but one of the 22 scheduled races last year, only time will tell if they can better their record and do the unthinkable this year.
