Ricciardo ridicules himself to send Norris and Brown into fits of laughter

Daniel Ricciardo took a shot at himself for his poor performance in Qatar, making a joke at his own expense.

Ricciardo is having a lacklustre season, with below-average results and performances. He had a brief revival and a huge Italian GP victory, but it was back to square one ever since then.

At the Qatar GP, it was another weekend to forget for the Honey Badger. An embarrassing knockout in Q2 where he could only qualify P14 was the shock of the evening. It was another disaster for Danny Ric, who is now effectively the second-fastest driver at McLaren.

While discussing the race to come, Ricciardo took a shot at himself for his poor performance in Qatar.

A video of teammate Lando Norris and boss Zak Brown discussing the race emerged on social media. In it, the Australian can be seen listening in, before giving one of his trademark wisecracks.

“So, (Valtteri) Bottas doesn’t go behind him?” Norris asked Brown. “No, Bottas is sixth, Max (Verstappen) is seventh,” the American replied.

Norris then expressed his disappointment with the news, but took heart in the fact that it could have been a lot worse.

“That’s really bad. Yeah, but the left will be better than starting on the right.”

Savage 100

Ricciardo couldn’t resist dropping a banger of a joke, and it sent those around him into streaks of laughter.

“So, where do I start? Oh, f**king 14th!” he said before walking back to the McLaren hospitality.

Ricciardo started from 14th and ended up finishing 12th. It was still a non-points finish, and it was made worse by the fact that he finished behind his teammate despite the latter suffering a puncture.

With two races to go, he needs to deliver good results to lend some more credibility to his season.
