Stroll issues challenge to rest of F1 grid – “We’ve taken a bigger step forward than them”

Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll issues a challenge to the rest of the F1 grid, saying they were confident in their tools for 2022.

The 2022 season will begin in earnest in March with the Bahrain GP. With new regulations being part of the sport, every team’s development has been going on in full capacity.

However, in a bid to keep their progress secret, no team has revealed anything significant regarding their cars. All that has been revealed are liveries and cosmetic updates.

With the arms race for 2022 in motion, Stroll issued a challenge to the rest of the F1 grid, saying they were prepared to take on any opposition.

As quoted by RaceFans, the businessman and father of driver Lance Stroll said, “The team’s ambitions are to pick up where we left off.

“I believe we’ve taken a new, big step forward as Aston Martin.

“It’s all a relative game – I’m sure our competition has taken a step forward as well. I have a good feeling that we’ve taken a little bit bigger step forward than them.”

Struggles to eliminate

On the team front, the Silverstone outfit did not do as good in 2021. They were off the pace despite a promising start, and failed to live up to the Racing Point season in 2020.

Drivers Lance and Sebastian Vettel had unspectacular seasons. However, there were some positives to take away.

Although the latter had a mixed season, the pinnacle came when he romped from P11 to a stunning P2 in Azerbaijan, taking Aston Martin’s first podium in the process. The moment of rock-bottom came at the Hungarian GP, when his incredible drive into P2 was followed by a disqualification.
