Max Verstappen was furious with the media for bringing up Lewis Hamilton in questions towards him, saying he expects better than that.
Verstappen and Hamilton have been contesting for the title this season, and have been embroiled in an intense rivalry. They have traded wins back and forth, and have even collided on a few occasions.
Reporters were scheduled to speak to Verstappen, and like they have been doing this season, asked him for comments regarding the Mercedes driver. Verstappen was furious with the media for bringing up Hamilton, and said that they could ask other questions.
“Like we always try, as professionals,” he said, as quoted by Planet F1.
“I don’t see why we always have to keep bringing this up.
“It’s not like we are the only ones who have touched, you know, in this sport and these things happen, unfortunately, but I think we are on the front row again and everyone is just expecting a great race and that’s what we also expect, I think, as drivers.
“We just want to have a really good race,” he concluded.
Hamilton also gave his thoughts on the US GP, and said that he just wants a great race.
“Yeah, I hope we’ll make it through Turn One and we get a good race,” he said. “I don’t think it’s all decided on Turn 1.
“It is all fun and games. We are going to have fun and give it everything as you would expect. It is no real difference to any other part of the season.”
When asked about the incident between Hamilton and his rival during practice, he said, “I didn’t run him wide.
“He decided to go around the outside and ended up going wide because we were battling into the last corner. It was a silly thing.”
