Sebastian Vettel was spotted talking with Lawrence Stroll after colliding with his son Lance at the Russian GP.
Aston Martin had a horrible race, and now they might be having some tensions between their drivers. Rain arrived to play the final devil, and that resulted in bad fortune for Stroll and Vettel.
The final three laps saw both Aston Martin cars pit for intermediate tyres. However, Stroll proceeded to crash into Vettel’s car with three laps to go.
The four-time world champion managed to shake it off and continue racing, but he wasn’t best pleased with what had happened. The team went on to finish P11 and P12, barely missing out on points.
The end of the race saw Vettel spotted talking to Lawrence Stroll and Aston Martin Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer. While he was being interviewed after the race, Vettel gave his thoughts on the shunt.
“I guess it was a misunderstanding and I’m not sure,” Vettel said.
“I don’t think he saw me. So maybe he didn’t expect me either. But fortunately, nothing happened; unfortunately, we’re both out of the points.”
Not a Stroll in the park
Stroll’s nightmare was far from over, as he was then involved in another incident, this time with Pierre Gasly. The heavy rain saw Stroll lose control of his car and slam into rear of the AlphaTauri. Gasly ended up spinning away from the track and having all his hard work undone.
Stroll was subsequently given a 10-second time penalty for the Russian GP standings, and was hit with two penalty points on his license. Four more of those will see him serve a race ban.
This was a real shame, especially because Stroll was in the running for big points on two separate occasions. A combination of bad luck and his own misjudgement meant he threw those points away.
