Vettel interested in some James Bond tech – “To get rid of opponents, a few buttons will do”

Sebastian Vettel is interested in some James Bond tech, saying his wishlist contains a 007-style car for F1.

Vettel drives for Aston Martin, the brand that is synonymous with Bond. The franchise has almost exclusively had Bond behind the wheel of some or the other Aston.

With the latest Bond movie ‘No Time to Die’ releasing in cinemas, there has been much hype around Aston Martin. The movie has an Aston Martin DB5 with headlights that have machine guns in them.

The four-time champion is a huge fan of such machinery, and stated that he would like one of those cars, but a more realistic model.

Vettel revealed that he is interested in some James Bond tech, and has a very specific wish regarding an Aston Martin.

“James Bond is fiction, the races are real,” he told F1-Insider.com.

“But sometimes I would also like a few buttons with which I could get rid of an opponent in front of or behind me.

“I grew up with James Bond and have now come a little closer to him. Of course, I’m still a car fan and James Bond was always allowed to drive really nice cars. The DB5 is my favourite Bond car.

“It goes back to the beginning – Sean Connery is my Bond favourite. He was a real gentleman. I grew up with Pierce Brosnan as Bond, but nobody can outdo Sean Connery,” he stated.

No time to die, but time for change

Vettel also talked about his team’s progress, and assured that they are headed in the right direction.

“The team is growing and wants to be successful,” he continued.

“We are doing everything for it. How long it will take is hard to say. In any case, the rule changes are very exciting.”

Vettel will be present for next season along with his teammate Lance Stroll. They will look to push Aston Martin higher up the grid, and put them that much closer to the championship.
