Williams has been reported as keeping tabs on the “absolutely brilliant” Mick Schumacher, marking him as one for the future.
Mick has shown great improvement in his first season in F1. He has shown guts and clean racing in his Haas, and has been recognised as a driver with talent.
The son of Michael Schumacher achieved a milestone last week at the Turkish GP, where he managed to stun everyone and reach Q2. Him doing it in what is considered to be the slowest car on the grid was a massive surprise, and instantly raised his stock.
Although the German was knocked out in Q2, it was a remarkable achievement. It has now been revealed that Williams is keeping tabs on the “absolutely brilliant” Mick, and considering him as a driver for the future.
Speaking to German RTL, Williams Team Principal Jost Capito said, “I have to say Mick is doing an excellent job.
“It’s only his first year in Formula One, but how he’s handled things, how he’s handled the team and how he’s got them behind him is absolutely brilliant.
“He’s a driver to keep an eye on. He’s a nice guy and really deserves to be in a car he can win with. I’m confident that, that will happen. If that were a Williams, that would be even better!”
Homecoming
The US GP is the next race on the calendar, and Williams is excited for it. They see the race in Texas as a home race due to their partnership with Dorilton Capital, an establishment based in the United States.
Williams chief Dave Robson said, “The US is now a second home race for us, and we look forward to welcoming our additional Williams family of Dorilton Capital to one of the best Grand Prix events on the calendar.”
