Young fan saddened about Hamilton’s F1 gala absence – “I expected to carry your trophy to you”

A young Lewis Hamilton fan was saddened about his idol missing the F1 prizegiving ceremony, and sent him a message regarding the same.

Hamilton has had a miserable couple of days being an F1 driver. He was on course to becoming an eight-time world champion until he was robbed by the authorities. His team then got involved in an ugly legal battle with the stewards, something he intervened with and asked his team to withdraw.

The situation was so bad that the seven-time world champion ended up skipping the function after the season. While he had every reason to, his actions unwittingly affected some others.

A young Hamilton fan was saddened about his idol missing the F1 prizegiving ceremony, and sent him a message urging him to fight on.

Karting youngster Zach Zhu, who was set to present Hamilton his trophy at the awards ceremony, never got to meet his favourite driver. The youngster took to social media to share his feelings.

“I was so expected to carry your trophy to you Lewis Hamilton,” he wrote, as quoted by express.co.uk. “To show you my helmet with the first star, but you were not there…

“You are the greatest driver in my heart. Keep pushing Lewis, you never let me down.”

Consequences

Following his snubbing of the ceremony, FIA president Mohamed ben Sulayem warned that disciplinary action could be taken against Hamilton.

“At the end of the day, rules are rules,” he said.

“It’s easy to be nice to people. And it is cheap to be nice. And it’s also to motivate people. But definitely, if there is any breach, there is no forgiveness in this. Forgiveness is always there, but rules are rules. We look at the rules.

“And I always say: rules are not made. A human made them…and they can be improved and changed by humans. So the rules are there to be improved.

“I know that Lewis is really sad about what happened and one word I would say is he’s broken. But we have to look if there was any breach,” he concluded.
