Former F1 Team Principal Eddie Jordan has backed Lando Norris to be the next British World Champion.
Norris has been in exceptional form this season, sitting in P3 in the WDC standings. He is having his best ever season, and has scooped up three podiums so far. His imperious form has made Jordan back him for future glories.
At the moment, the best British driver is reigning and seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton. However, Jordan believes Norris will be the next British great when Hamilton hangs up his boots. In fact, he backed him to be the next British World Champion.
Speaking on the F1 Nation podcast, Jordan said, “I do like Norris. He is very special.
“There is a very few, that can actually come up to Max and Lewis’s standards, and I think Norris is the one who stands out. I think we are looking at another world champion in Britain.
“There was Jenson, there was you (speaking to Damon Hill), and previous people obviously, dozens before that. But, the next lot, you will have to be looking at Lando Norris.”
Talisman
Norris has been Mr. Consistent not just for McLaren, but in the general scheme of things too. This season, he has finished in the top five in nine races, and only failed to score points in one race. In fact, he had the longest points-scoring streak this season, and only being taken out of the Hungarian GP forced him to concede it.
With Ferrari and McLaren locked in battle for P3, it is up to the drivers. With the other McLaren driver in Daniel Ricciardo not having his best season, Norris will have to do as well as he has done.
If Norris can keep it up, he can silence those who doubt him, and lead McLaren to third place.
