Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton won his seventh’s world championship in 2020.
One more and he will cross Michael Schumacher’ record.
The Stevenage-born man has made sure this is represented on his helmet.
We know this because he took to social media to share a little peak into the livery for Mercedes’ 2021 car.
In a curtailed 2020 season, Hamilton won 10 of the 17 races. This includes the Bahrain Grand Prix, which saw George Russell deputise in his place as a result of him contracting coronavirus.
Mercedes displayed Hamilton’s helmet design on Twitter.
One can notice that it is different from the one he used in 2020.

The purple in the 2020 helmet was a tribute to Chadwick Boseman, famous for his role as ‘Black Panther’ in Marvel’s blockbuster movie, who died in this period.
In the 2021 helmet, we can see seven stars. Pretty obvious what that means.

Interestingly, the black is slightly different compared to the 2020 edition, which could provide a hint as to the livery of the new car.
In the 2020 design, there was a glossy black very similar to the car he was driving.
This time, we can see a matte black finish.
This could be a massive year in the history of the sport.
Hamilton equalled Schumacher’s record of seven championship wins last season while going past the German’s record for most race wins.
The lure of the eighth title may well be what eventually tempted Hamilton to stay at Mercedes.
