Tottenham are set to request the Premier League to postpone their match with Brighton on Sunday, following a massive COVID-19 outbreak in the club.
Spurs’ COVID worries surfaced on Monday, with reports stating that up to six players had tested positive for the virus. Now it has been revealed that the number has hit double digits, which is alarming given the Lilywhites’ upcoming fixtures.
Manager Antonio Conte will be having a headache. Spurs play Rennes on Thursday in the Europa Conference League, and the rules of the tournament state that a match will proceed if a team can field 13 players. However, the same cannot be said for the team’s domestic league in England.

Spot of bother
Spurs’ COVID crisis has worsened according to the reliable Dan Kilpatrick. Many players have reportedly tested positive via lateral flow tests, including star player Heung-Min Son.
The Premier League will make a decision, which should come via Conte during a press conference. However, it is not looking very good for the North London team, with them already a game behind thanks to the Burnley match being called off due to excessive snow.
Should it be done, however, Spurs will have a triple gameweek at some point in the season. That means a lot of rotation for three matches in one week, which is a boon or a bane depending on how you look at it.
The rising cases could also play into the next fixtures they have. They face Leicester City four days after the Brighton game, and that could also be in line to be suspended.
