Formula 1 pundit Billy Monger tests positive for Covid-19 as Channel 4 broadcasting team self-isolates

Channel 4 commentator and Formula 1 pundit Billy Monger has been diagnosed with Covid-19 and as a result had to step back from broadcasting.

He was involved with Formula 1 and W Series.

Due to his positive result, commentator Alex Jacques and presenter Steve Jones had to self-isolate and will not be participating in the Styrian Grand Prix.

Ben Edwards will replace Jacques as the lead commentator and will be working from the UK.

David Coulthard will be the co-commentator in Austria.

Official statement from Whisper

Channel 4’s broadcast partner Whisper has published an official statement regarding this scenario.

“Whisper can confirm that a member of its production team has tested positive for Covid-19 since arriving in Austria ahead of the Formula One event and W Series event this weekend,”

“Whisper produces the W Series Host Broadcast and highlights of F1 for Channel 4.

“As a result, some of the Whisper production team are now isolating, in line with FIA protocol until further notice,” the report concluded.
