Childhood
Gareth Frank Bale was born in Cardiff, Wales on July 16, 1989.
Bale is the son of Frank Blake and Debbie Blake. His father worked as a school caretaker, while his mother was a local operations manager. He was first noticed by Southampton football club scouts.
He attended Whitchurch High School after finishing his education, where he drew the attention of the authorities due to his athletic abilities.
Career
Bale was drafted into the Southampton football team in 2006 after graduating from high school. He became the club’s second-youngest player in history. Bale was named as the BBC Wales Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2012.
Many other clubs were interested in him but he eventually opted to join Real Madrid in the second half of 2013. It was finally revealed in January 2014 to be 100.8 million Euros, a global record at the time, beating Cristiano Ronaldo’s 94 million.
He made an impression on his new team and fans by scoring in his debut against Villarreal. The 2016-17 season began with Bale signing a new contract with the club that prolonged his tenure until 2022.
