Geri Halliwell: Age, height, weight, marriage, personal life, career

Geri Halliwell is a singer, songwriter, author, actress, and philanthropist from England.

Early life

Geraldine Estelle Halliwell (1972–1993) was born on August 6, 1972, at Watford General Hospital in Watford, Hertfordshire, to Ana María and Laurence Francis Halliwell. Her mother is from Huesca, Spain while her father is of Swedish, English, and “a little French” ancestry.

Halliwell grew up in North Watford on a council estate. She went to Watford Grammar School for Girls and Camden School for Girls for her education. Halliwell worked as a nightclub dancer in Majorca, a presenter on the Turkish version of Let’s Make a Deal, and a glamour model before embarking on her music career.

She was a Page 3 girl in The Sun when she was 19 years old. Following her rise to prominence, nude photos of Halliwell were reprinted in magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse in 1996.

Singing Career

Halliwell rose to prominence in the 1990s as Ginger Spice, a member of the Spice Girls, a pop girl group. The group became the best-selling female group of all time, selling over 90 million records worldwide. Halliwell was most closely associated with the phrase “girl power,” which was frequently uttered by all five members.

Halliwell left the Spice Girls in 1998 to pursue a solo career, but she later rejoined the group when they reunited in 2007.

Halliwell launched her solo career in 1999 with the release of her debut studio album, Schizophonic, which included three number-one singles, including “Mi Chico Latino,” “Lift Me Up,” and “Bag It Up,” while the lead single, “Look at Me,” peaked at number two.

Scream If You Wanna Go Faster, her second studio album, was released in 2001; the lead single, “It’s Raining Men,” which was also used on the Bridget Jones’s Diary film soundtrack, peaked at number one in the UK and went on to become her biggest hit.

After missing in action for a few years, Halliwell announced in April 2010 that she had begun working on new music. She appeared as a guest judge on The X Factor UK’s ninth series in 2012, and the following year, she appeared as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent’s seventh series.

She has also made a name for herself in the publishing industry, having published two autobiographies, including the best-selling If Only, and a series of children’s novels, including Ugenia Lavender.

Fashion Career

Halliwell collaborated with British retailer Next to create the “Geri by Next” swimwear collection in 2010. This was followed in 2012 by a clothing line with a Union Jack motif, inspired by Halliwell’s famous Union Jack dress from 1997.

Halliwell published her autobiography, If Only, in 1999, in which she detailed her life as a Spice Girl. The book went on to top best-seller lists, selling over a million copies in the United Kingdom alone. The proceeds from the sale of her autobiography were donated to a Breast Cancer charity by Halliwell.

Just for the Record, her second autobiography was published in 2002, and it detailed her rise to fame as well as her turbulent celebrity lifestyle.

On April 12, 2007, Halliwell announced that she had signed a six-book deal with Macmillan Children’s Books. The books follow the exploits of Ugenia, a nine-year-old character based on Halliwell, and her friends Bronte, Rudy, and Trevor.

Princess Posh Vattoria, a caricature of Victoria Beckham, appeared in the early draft but did not make it into the book series. Halliwell claims that other characters are loosely based on Gordon Ramsay, George Michael, Marilyn Monroe, Vincent van Gogh, Wayne Rooney, and the character Justin Suarez from the TV show Ugly Betty.

Personal life

In May 2006, Halliwell gave birth to a daughter and named her Bluebell Madonna. The child’s father is screenwriter Sacha Gervasi, with whom Halliwell was in a relationship in 2005. Halliwell named Victoria Beckham and Emma Bunton as her daughter’s godmothers.

In February 2014, Halliwell began dating Christian Horner, the team principal of the Red Bull Racing Formula One team. They announced their engagement on November 11, 2014, and married on May 15, 2015, at St Mary’s Church in Woburn, Bedfordshire.

Halliwell has spoken out about her bulimia experiences, claiming that she was on the verge of death while weighing only 7 stone (98 lb; 44 kg) and was advised to seek medical help by Robbie Williams. In 2011, she talked about being at ease with her body and attributed her new healthy relationship with food to motherhood.
