“Going to use that term too”: Bottas agrees to use Verstappen terminology for F1 critics

Valtteri Bottas has been going through a lot of criticism for a while now considering his performance with Mercedes.

The Finn is supposedly jealous of cycle racing where the race is more about the team as a whole and the participants provide assistance to each other.

Bottas has been racing with Mercedes since 2017. This has led him to come under the lens more than necessary considering it is the top-most team in F1.

The Finn has often been compared to Lewis Hamilton who has been significantly better than him. But competing with a seven-time world champion is not a piece of cake.

Bottas often attracts criticism

Bottas has also received a lot of criticism from ‘keyboard warriors’, a term used previously by Max Verstappen.

The 31-year-old finds this term rather funny.

”Haha, that’s a good one. I’m going to use that term too. Through the years you get used to it. People will always talk about you, let them do that,” Bottas told De Telegraaf.

For the moment, Bottas is less concerned with the sport as he is working to improve himself.

The Finn also spends a substantial amount of time on his bike, especially after meeting his girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell.

Cycling is a great team-oriented sport

The Mercedes driver is envious of cycling, which according to him is a more team-oriented sport.

“I’ve seen in cycling that teammates there actually work well together… In Formula 1 it’s different,” he said.

“You work together, but at the same time, your teammate is your biggest enemy.

“In cycling, there really is a team spirit. If someone wins, it is a victory for the whole team. I had never realised that before.”
