Former Formula 1 driver Jan Lammers has stated that Lewis Hamilton makes mistakes quite often, but always gets away with it. With threat from Verstappen and Red Bull this season, he might not be able to evade punishment.
The seven-time World Champion is leading the drivers’ standings at the moment. With just a point between him and Max Verstappen after round two in Imola, the fight this season will be exhilarating.
Lammers seems to think that Hamilton has been giving a really good performance only because his higly dominant car is hiding his mistakes.
“Hamilton makes mistakes more often than not. His mistakes were never punished because he drove the best car and always got away with it,” he said.
“Often Hamilton is there at the moments that matter, but especially in Imola you saw everyone was vulnerable because of the circumstances.”
Hamilton admits that he had made a mistake during the race. But, to suggest that he does that on a regular basis is something worth thinking about. There is no denying that Hamilton has had the best car, but his performances have been almost consistent.
After sliding off at Tosa while pursuing Verstappen, Hamilton had a brilliant recovery. His is expected to continue his fight in Portimao in around a week from now.
