“He always gets knocked out and beaten”: Covington brands former teammate Poirier ‘a fake’

Colby Covington has made it very clear that he does not intend to make any friends in this business.

He has had feuds with his former teammate Dustin Poirier in the past, but the two were witnessed making amends. This was new considering Covington’s fallouts with his former friends/teammates Jon Jones, Tyron Woodly, Jorge Masvidal, to name only a few.

However, this reconciliation was short-lived as Covington later disclosed that he was being nice to Poirier as a favour to American Top Team founder Dan Lambert.

Now that Covington is the CEO of Colby Covington Incorporated, he does not see the point of “playing nice” to Poirier.

While speaking to LowKickMMA about the McGregor-Poirier trilogy, he said, “Yeah, and that’s not saying like Dustin Soyier (Dustin Poirier) is any good or like, is anything special.

“Because the guy’s not. The guy’s a gatekeeper at lightweight. He’s nothing more. All in the big fights he always gets knocked out and beaten. He’s a jobber, that’s the definition of what Dustin Soyrier is.”

He further continued, “And he’s a fake. He’s a clown, trying to start that charity and say that he’s all about The Good Fight and he’s trying to give back to kids. No, he’s not, that’s a tax write-off for your business.

“Tell the people the truth, I know the real person you are Dustin Soyrier. You’re a piece of sh*t person behind the scenes. You won’t do this and that.

“You don’t treat nobody good. You act like you’re better than people with an ego, so don’t act like you’re special just because you beat ‘Conman McGregor’ (Conor McGregor) after his time and when he was washed up.”

It will be interesting to see if Covington has any good things to say about another fighter.
