“If I had to bet a euro”: Leclerc on why he would put money on Verstappen instead of Hamilton

The 2021 Formula 1 season is set to bring around a new era as Lewis Hamilton has finally found a worthy adversary in Max Verstappen. After just two races, the competition between them is at its peak.

For Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, the choice is simple with respect to who he would pick to win the world championship.

“If I had to bet a euro on one of those two? Verstappen. The Red Bull has made progress and seems to have an edge over Mercedes. Max is capable of winning because he has a lot of talent,” he said.

Leclerc himself would love to be a part of this discussion. But, he is sure that it’s not going to happen next season.

Ferrari has made a bit of a recovery following a horror show in the previous season. In Imola, it could have been the third team on the grid had certain things worked out in its favour. Nevertheless, the team has displayed great improvement.

According to the Monegasque, things will be no different in Portugal.

“I think it will be more or less the same, the battle with Alpha Tauri and McLaren promises to be tight, but I believe in the project because I know how we work internally and I know our potential,” said Leclerc.
