“Inappropriate comment and it’s complete nonsense”: Marko rubbishes Wolff’s big claim

Come 2022, Red Bull will be seen racing the grid with their own engines. Honda, who have been serving as the team’s engine suppliers, will stop the delivery of engines to the outfit after this year. However, Red Bull will be using the designs from Honda to build its own engine.

The outfit has also added big names to its team who were previously associated with Mercedes’ engine department. As a result, Red Bull is expected to have its own engine by 2025.

Toto Wolff had his opinion about this.

He claims that Red Bull will sell the rights of Honda engine and then resell them to a new vendor such as Volkswagen.

Helmut Marko, however, has rubbished these claims.

“He made an inappropriate comment that we get the rights from Honda to pass them on to Volkswagen. That’s complete nonsense.

“That would be unfair and is not planned. As long as the current regulations hold, we are solely responsible for this engine. But we are open to collaborations in the future, whether it is for the name of our engine or more.

“Everything is possible and desirable so that we can control our costs,” Marko concluded.
