“It made me very happy”: Rosberg and Hamilton rivalry reignited with cheeky admission

Formula 1 drivers Hamilton and Rosberg have both entered their teams into the inaugural off-road event Extreme E. This has renewed their rivalry especially after Nico Rosberg won the maiden race event.

The pair were teammates from 2013 to 2016 for Mercedes which led to historic clashes on track between the two. Even though both are still not in talking terms, they have their eyes set on taking home the trophies as Extreme E team owners.

When asked if Hamilton called him after his Extreme E victory, Rosberg denied claiming that Hamilton probably didn’t have his number.

“Still, how cool is that we are now competing against each other as team bosses and are also first and second in the championship? It’s funny that the duel now continues here.”

Hamilton had won the F1 world championship in 2014 and 2015. But Rosberg broke his hat-trick attempt and claimed victory in 2016 after which he immediately retired.

After retirement, Rosberg spent most of his time engaging in various sustainable projects with Extreme E being his most significant endeavor. Rosberg Xtreme Racing Team won the season’s opening race at Saudi Arabia while Hamilton’s X44 came in third.

“Our teams were in duels all weekend. Sometimes his team was first, sometimes mine. It was a really big duel and in the end we were able to swing it our way, which made me very happy,” Rosberg concluded.
