“It’s not a request concert”: Vettel counters Aston Martin criticism, says everyone is being realistic

Sebastian Vettel is currently going through a difficult time in the 2021 season with Aston Martin. The German has failed to score any points in the first three races of the season.

When Vettel moved from Ferrari to Aston Martin, it seemed that things will fall in place for him. However, the outfit has been dealing with pace issues in all three races.

The team is currently 7th place in the constructors’ championship with just 5 points.

With new aerodynamic regulations being implemented, the performance of their car has been severely impacted. This has led the team to change its expectations for the season.

Vettel, on the other hand, claims that they are just being realistic.

“It is what it is. We’re also realistic. Of course, it’s not the way we would have liked it to be, but at the end of the day it’s not a request concert. We’re trying to improve every little step we can, in order to be able to take more points with us in the midfield.” he said.

While there is some hope with upgrade packages being applied, the car is visibly outperformed by midfield rivals McLaren and Ferrari.

Vettel seemed positive pointing out that the current season is not finished and a lot of points are still up for grabs.

“That is the big question,” said Vettel. “This year is also important for us. Obviously, we don’t want to be satisfied with where we are now. We are working on this year as well as looking ahead.”

At the ongoing Spanish Grand Prix, Vettel managed to score 8th and 11th in FP1 and FP2 respectively.

We can only wait and see how he performs during the race.
