Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo far from being the dream team – “Our interests are different”

The day it was announced that Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris were going to be teammates, fans had their hopes up for the duo.

Many McLaren fans were under the impression that the two drivers would have a comical tenure with the outfit.

For instance, Norris and Carlos Sainz had an interesting dynamic that made everyone laugh. Similarly, Ricciardo shared a similar relationship with Max Verstappen at Red Bull.

However, the magic between Norris and Ricciardo seems to be missing.

Reason lies in the interests of the drivers

It is true that the two drivers have that dynamic lacking. This can be blamed on the fact that the two of them don’t have similar interests.

“We get on well and laugh with each other and we’re good friends, but our interests off the track are just very different,” Norris said.

“He’s more into making wine and clothes, while I’m more into golf and E-sports. Carlos was a bit more into that, so we would sometimes golf together or race each other on the simulator.”

Norris has become more serious as a driver

Looking back at his interviews lately, it is clear that the Brit has become a lot more focused on driving.

Additionally, he spends less time streaming on Twitch.

“I think I’m concentrating more than I used to and spending more time on the important things, like focusing on driving and getting good performances,” the 21-year-old said.

Norris is highly consistent

According to Norris, the key to a good performance lies in spending more time with the engineers. Having fun and chatting around becomes secondary.

While this approach might not do well with his fans, it seems to be working overall.

Since his time in 2020, Norris has shown incredible skill, something that has continued till this season.

At the moment, he is among the most consistent drivers on the grid battling it out with Sergio Perez for the third spot in the standings.
