Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc had tough luck during the qualifying at the Monaco Grand Prix.
While he managed to earn the position of pole-sitter, disaster struck the driver as his car crashed into the barriers.
This led to a gearbox issue which led to the Saturday session getting red-flagged.
Leclerc faced issues on the formation lap
On Sunday, Ferrari had mentioned that there was no problem with the car. However, during the formation lap, Leclerc confirmed that there is some issue with the car.
This happened a mere 35 minutes before the race.
Initially, the outfit announced that Leclerc would start the race from the pitlane. However, the team finally announced that the damage was too great and pulled the driver out of the race.
Verstappen wins the Monaco GP
This led Red Bull driver Max Verstappen out in the front of the grid which led to his victory at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Valtteri Bottas, who started the race from behind Verstappen, was out after he faced a tyre change issue during his pitstop.
