Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has accused Lewis Hamilton of engaging in mind games. He also goes on to say that Toto Wolff likes to interfere in everyone’s business.
Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have been battling it out during the first four rounds of the season. The two drivers have almost similar machines.
Just before the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton had revealed that Verstappen is a lot more aggressive when they are battling it out on the grid. However, the Red Bull driver has denied these allegations.
Horner ‘rubbishes’ all claims
According to Christian Horner, the Brit’s comments are ‘rubbish’ and shows that he is influenced by the Dutchman’s driving.
“Lewis loves all that rubbish so will just let him get on with it,” he said in an interview.
“Max does his own thing, is his own man. The fact that Lewis feels the need to do that means that actually, Max is probably getting under his skin a bit.
“It’s great, it’s part of the sport. We’re only at the beginning of the championship, we’re not even anywhere near halfway yet. Can you imagine what it is going to be like by the time, if they are that close, going into the last few races?”
Battles extend off-track
The two outfits have their battles not limited to the track.
For instance, the German team had raised their voice against their rival’s “bendy” rear-wing which they used in Barcelona. They were also upset as the investigation for the same would take place after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The matter was raised again by Wolff in Monaco who also stated that Mercedes is currently more focused on the 2022 campaign.
He also alleged that they could beat Red Bull without having to develop their car this year.
Horner, however, does not believe this story considering Mercedes’ obsession with the rear-wing issue. He also wishes that Wolff would mind his business.
What did Horner say?
“I think Toto’s more focused on our rear wing than he is on next year,” he added.
“I don’t know what’s going on in their business but Toto knows what’s going on in everyone’s business.
“I would be surprised [if it’s true] because the rate of development is still quite intense so we’ll see. We’ve only done four races.”
