Sebastian Vettel looks forward to the Monaco Grand Prix despite Aston Martin’s struggles this season.
The German is yet to get going with Aston this season. He has taken zero points from the first four races.
Ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Vettel shared his thoughts on the race. He mentioned the team’s progress in Barcelona and how he is looking forward to the race. The former world champion also highlighted what Aston Martin will focus on at the weekend.
“We know that our race pace has often been stronger than our single-lap pace, so we’ll be focusing extra hard on that all-important qualifying performance this weekend,” he said. “I’m excited for the challenge of Monaco – there’s no other track like it.”
Steady progress for Vettel
Vettel finished P13 at the Spanish Grand Prix. However, he is confident the team has made an improvement at Spain. The two-time Monaco Grand Prix winner feels this will help them be competitive for the rest of the season.
He said, “There’s a long season ahead, and the new parts we ran in Barcelona felt like an improvement and are helping us to move forward. The goal is to build on that in Monte-Carlo.”
Vettel may have clinched victory in Monaco twice, but it would be a bigger feat if he can pull it off this weekend. His current car means he is far from that situation at the moment.
He will hope his experience and driving instinct will help him do well at Monaco. A first top 10 finish this season wouldn’t be a bad result. Aston Martin need all the points they can get to improve their tally.
Can Vettel and the improved Aston Martin deliver a good performance at Monaco? Or will they bottom out on the famed circuit?
