Not Ferrari: Ecclestone reveals the team that would best suit Mick Schumacher

Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone recently spoke about the development of Mick Schumacher and how the sport has progressed since Liberty Media took over.

Ecclestone has not met Mick a lot, but judging by his performances in F2 last year, he is confident the German has inherited a lot of skill from his father Michael.

Ecclestone said that Red Bull would be the ideal team for Mick in the future.

“A team like Red Bull, a team that has the skills to win races. That has people in the team who can support it precisely,” Ecclestone said.

“His record in Formula 2 was great. It won’t be so easy with the current team.

“I don’t know Mick very well. I’ve met him a few times, but never close enough to really know him.

“But I think he has inherited a lot from his father’s genius. I would be very disappointed if we could not see great achievements from him in the future.

Mick will debut this year for Haas. The American outfit has had to endure a tricky period in the sport over the past few years.

Ecclestone doesn’t believe Mick will prosper at Haas.

“Mick Schumacher knows exactly what he is doing. It is not the first time that he has sat in a racing car. The other driver who is on the team with him is in the same situation.

“These are two drivers who are in a non-competitive car. They now have to develop into seasoned racing drivers. It’s not easy.”

The youngster did enjoy a promising start to his F1 career, finishing with the sixth quickest lap time during pre-season testing.

Do you believe Schumacher has what it takes to prosper at Haas this year? Will he soon be plying his trade for a stronger team?
