PSG President Nasser al-Khelaïfi has warned young superstar Kylian Mbappé against a move away from the club.

Mbappé has been reported to be unhappy with the sporting project at PSG. This has been two years in the making, first after losing the Champions League final to Bayern Munich, and then surrendering the Ligue 1 title in shocking fashion to Lille.

His unrest has been the source of many rumours that link him with a move away from PSG. Mbappé has been vocal in his desire to play for Spanish giants Real Madrid one day, and is said to be considering leaving with less than one year remaining on his contract.

However, PSG have pulled the biggest move in the transfer market by signing Barcelona forward Lionel Messi. This is a statement signing from PSG, and one Nasser is very proud of. However, he has also used it to warn Mbappé not to move from PSG.

During Messi’s presentation on Wednesday to the PSG supporters and to the world, Nasser threw down the gauntlet in the cold war between himself and Mbappé. He spoke about the World Cup winner and urged him to stay at the French club and to stop the drama over his contract extension.

“Everyone knows Kylian’s future,” Nasser said.

“Kylian is Parisian, very competitive. He said he wanted a competitive team, now there is no more competitive (than PSG). He no longer has an excuse to do something else”, the President concluded.

Decisions to make

Mbappé will have heard those words from the club president. His future is still very much unclear, and if he doesn’t act on it soon, the upcoming season could be his last one in PSG colours.

However, it is clear to one and all that as far as a sporting project is concerned, Mbappé only has to look at the transfers completed by PSG. The slew of world-class players signed suggests they are going all guns blazing for Europe.

As such, Mbappé wil have to decide between his dream move or playing with Messi and the most stacked team in football.
