“Psychological problems” and “end of career” for Vettel if Stroll beats him: Former F1 driver

Sebastian Vettel had a forgettable 2020 season. Not only was he beaten by his own teammate, but he ended in 13th position in the drivers’ standings.

Such was the entire mood around Ferrari that the team decided to end its association with the German following a 6-year partnership.

Aston Martin has added him to its driver line-up for this season, and there is a growing feeling that he may just prsper once again, especially with Mercedes being its engine supplier.

However, former F1 driver Chrisitian Klien believes Vettel’s struggles are not yet behind him.

Vettel with partner up with Lance Stroll this season and Klien feels that if Vettel fails to establish his superiority, it could be the end of the road for him in the sport.

“Sebastian has a chance to start all over again in Aston Martin. But he needs to keep the competition under control with Lance Stroll. I think this will be very important to him,” Klien said.

“Vettel always had psychological problems when his teammates were really fast. That was the case for both Daniel Riccardo and Charles Leclerc. If he can’t keep Lance behind him, his career will soon end.”

Vettel managed to muster only 33 points during the entirety of last season, but he remains optimistic about his chances in the upcoming season.

Vettel has even gone on record to suggest that he is targeting a finish above Ferrari this term.

Does Vettel still have the required skill to succeed at this level?
