Early life

Richard Morgan Fliehr, popularly known as ‘Ric Flair’ was born on the 25th of February, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee. Flair was adopted, and his birth name is widely assumed to be Fred Phillips.

In other records, he is referred to as Fred Demaree or Fred Stewart. His adoptive father was completing his residency in obstetrics and gynaecology in Detroit, Michigan when he was adopted. Kathleen, his adopted mother, worked for the Star Tribune newspaper.

He and his new family moved to Edina, Minnesota, not long after being adopted. Flair went to high school at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He was a member of the wrestling team, as well as football and track.

Flair, popularly known as “The Nature Boy,” was originally introduced to the wrestling business when he met the famed Vachon brothers. On December 10, 1972, Flair made his professional wrestling debut against “Scrap Iron” George Gadaski.

He began his career at Gagne’s Minneapolis Boxing & Wrestling Club before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he became a regular for Jim Crockett Promotions.

Ric earned his first NWA World title in 1981. He has since had a very successful wrestling career. He later worked for World Championship Wrestling, TNA Wrestling, and Vince McMahon’s WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).

Throughout his career, Flair was a popular pay-per-view attraction. He was the main attraction at Starrcade ten times.

In 1992, he also headlined the WWF’s equivalent, WrestleMania. He also won the Royal Rumble that year; also won the PWI Wrestler of the Year award eight times in a row. He is the first WWE Hall of Fame inductee to have been inducted twice.

The first time was in 2008 for his solo career, and the second time was in 2012 for his role in The Four Horsemen.

Flair has also been inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame, the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame.

Personal life

Flair married Leslie Goodman on August 28, 1971. They have a daughter, Megan, and a son, David. In 1983, however, they divorced. On August 27, 1983, Flair married Elizabeth Harrell.

They also have two children: Ashley, a daughter, and Reid, a son. In 2006, Flair and Harrell divorced.

Flair married Tiffany VanDemark on May 27, 2006. She filed for divorce in 2008. In 2009, their divorce was finalised. He married Jackie Beems in North Carolina on November 11, 2009. Flair divorced Jackie in 2012.

Flair married Wendy Barlow, nicknamed Fifi the Maid on WCW, for the fifth time on September 12, 2018, in Florida. Flair’s son David, like his father, was a professional wrestler. From 1999 until 2001, David worked for WCW. Reid Flair, Flair’s other son, was a prominent high school wrestler who received a developmental contract with WWE in 2007.

Ric Flair became a grandfather in 2004 when his daughter Megan gave birth to her first kid, Morgan Lee Ketzner. Ashley Flair, Flair’s other daughter, signed with WWE in 2012 under the stage name Charlotte Flair.

Reid Flair, Flair’s son, died in March 2013 of a drug overdose caused by a combination of heroin, Xanax, and a muscle relaxant. Flair has made a lot of absurd claims over the years, including that he slept with 15,000 women and drank 15 beers each day.
