Romain Grosjean was born on April 17, 1986, in Geneva, Switzerland. Grosjean was born to a Swiss father and a French mother.

In 2003, Grosjean won 10 rounds of the Formula Lista Junior championship. In 2004, he switched to the French Formula Renault competition. The next year, he finished seventh with one win in his rookie season and went on to win the championship with 10 victories in 2005.

Career

As he ascended Europe’s open-wheel racing ladder, Grosjean won several titles and races. His abilities have continued to amaze fans worldwide.

After beginning his karting career in 2000, he made his open-wheel racing debut during the 2003 season. He advanced to the French-based Formula Renault 2.0 Championship. He won the championship in 2004.

He competed with ART Grand Prix, the two-time GP2 Series champions. In 2008, he won four of five double-header rounds. He would go on to win two GP2 races during the regular season.

Grosjean returned to Formula One in 2012 with the Lotus F1 Team. The following year, he earned his first F1 podium at the Bahrain Grand Prix. He was the first driver to be barred from racing since 1994.

The following year, he stayed with Lotus and took six podiums. From 2016 to 2020, he drove for Haas. During the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix, he survived a horrific incident in which his car split in two and caught fire. Grosjean had minor burns as a result of the incident. For the 2021 season, he will compete in the IndyCar Series in the United States.
