Pierre Gasly is one of the top upcoming drivers on the grid at the moment, something that his stint at AlphaTauri has already demonstrated. He managed to stand on the podium multiple times back in 2020, including scoring the top-spot in Monza.
According to rumours, Gasly could be on his way to join Alpine to drive with two-time world champion Fernando Alonso. This would see him replacing Esteban Ocon.
However, these developments will not take place in 2021, as there are already contracts in place.
Gasly has reportedly met with Alpine management and if something were to happen, it would happen in 2022. The Netflix docu-series Drive To Survive showcases Gasly’s situation after being demoted.
Gasly aims to become a world champion in the sport despite his modest results with Red Bull. But, that will not be likely as AlphaTauri is Red Bull’s B-team. Alpine is slower than AlphaTauri, but with Alonso by his side, Alpine has a lot more scope than previously expected.
Red Bull has internally been pushing Yuki Tsunoda further up the stepping ladder. This means that Gasly’s chances for a seat are slim. So he can hope to find a career with Alpine for the moment.
